Contest Time

I thought it about time for another contest so here we go.

This was inspired by two of the KC Usual Suspects, C.H. and J.W.

It is simple really, guess how may cigar bands in this bottle without going over and you will win a surprise selected especially for you.

This is a 1.75 liter bottle and the cigar bands are of many, many different cigars and sizes.

While baseball and drinking do go hand in hand I was not going to write about my predictions for this years Major League Baseball Season. However, I had requests from several of my tens of fans to do so. I think they may just be making fun of me since I did such a poor job last year. About the only thing I got right for the 2013 season was that the Yankees would not make the playoffs (which they didn't). So here we go...

Starting in the National League West like most other experts I find it hard to believe that the Dodgers will not win their division. I really think the Giants have some great pitching possibilities, however the combination of pitching, offense and speed have be giving the edge to the Dodgers.

In the National League Central I am again this year picking the Milwaukee Brewers. I realize I missed this division by a mile last year, however I think the Brewers pitching will make the difference this year.

KC TobacPack Hall of Fame

Not so long back the founders of the KC TobacPack decided to start a Hall of Fame of Cigar Smokers. Here is our first nominee and the presentation and vote is tonight during the Whiskey Wednesday festivities.

George Burns

Actually George Burns really needs no introduction or presentation to be included in any Hall of Fame; TV, Stage, Movies or Cigar. However here is some information I found during my research that I  hope will be as interesting to you as it was to me.

Born Jan. 20th 1896 as Nathan Birnbaum, was an American comedian, award-winning actor, best-selling writer and noted cigar enthusiast.

He was one of the few entertainers whose career successfully spanned vaudeville, film, radio, and television. His arched eyebrow and cigar-smoke punctuation became familiar trademarks for over three-quarters of a century.

Won an Academy award in 1975 in the Sunshine Boys for Best Supporting Actor

Married his long time partner Gracie Allen in1926, which was somewhat daring for those times…
