The Bar Olympics

A few weeks back 8 of the Usual Suspects set out on PWC’s for a ride to Bumps Barefoot Bar located at the three and a half MM on the Gravois arm of the Lake of the Ozarks. Bumps is a great bar with very reasonably priced food and live music on occasion. We were in luck that night as we entered Mac McDonald was just starting to play. Mac has toured with some well known performers (see his bio) and is more than a little entertaining. Mac has great talent in playing and singing, but his best attribute is getting the crowd involved. A Quote is Not Always a Quote

Sitting at MySideOfTheBar last week I was watching the movie Caddy Shack (one of my all  time favoriates) and I and the Usual Suspect next to me started to quote lines. Well that made me think of my all time favoriate lines about drinking from TV and Movies. So here they are: 10. "My advice to you is to start drinking heavily." --Bluto, Animal House 9. "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk.  That will teach you to keep your mouth shut. " --Ernest Hemingway 8. "Actually, it only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth." --George Burns 7. I like to have a martini, Two at the very most, After three I'm under the table, after four I'm under my host. -- Dorthy Parker 6. One of my favorites, even though it is not direclty a quote about drinking it is from one of my favoriate books about drinking. "Dry Martini, a Gentleman Turns to Love" by John Thomas

Iced Coffee

WTH? I have had a love affair with Coffee since I first discovered it when I was a senior in high school. In the early days it was always instant Coffee and in hind sight it was not all that great. I did discover a few years ago when I was in Europe (the biggest consumers of instant Coffee in the world) that many improvements have been made in the instant world and it is not all that bad today. If you are a regular follower of this blog you already know that I am kind of a Coffee Connoisseur these days, I pick out my favorite beans, grind them myself and enjoy great cups of pressed Coffee. I have even been known to roast my own beans, which can yield some great brew. I have no less than five very good Coffee shops within a stone throw or a short walk from MySideOfTheBar including Scooters , which is the preferred Coffee House of MySideOfTheBar. I have even been enjoying my Coffee despite the extremely hot weather we have been having of late. I was in Scooters a few wee
