Holiday Cocktails 2011
I blogged on Holiday Cocktails last holiday season
Holiday Cocktails 2010
Thought I would share some of the better concoctions that I have found this year. Yes I can vouch for each one of these.
Eggnog Martini
I have experimented with several versions of this (some listed below) but here is my favorite
1 Jigger Vodka
1 Jigger Vanilla Vodka
Ice
Eggnog of Choice
Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake well
Pour into Chilled Martini Glass
Top with Nutmeg or Pumpkin Spice
Irish Peppermint Cream
1.5 oz Irish Cream with a Hint of Mint Chocolate
4 oz Hot chocolate
Whipped cream
Candy cane
Pour the Irish Cream and hot chocolate into a coffee mug. Top with a dollop of whipped cream. Sprinkle crushed candy cane on top. Garnish with a mint leaf.
This next one is one of our favorites here at MySideOfTheBar for those cold evening in front of the fire
Gluhwein (courtesy of L.S.)
1 lemon, quartered
2 oranges, quartered
6 cloves
2-3 sticks of cinnamon
1 bottle of red wine
2 cups of water
bring mix to a simmer, do not bring to a hard boil
Allow to cool 3 hrs
bring mix to a simmer; do not bring to a hard boil
Optional:
Add half Cup Brandy or Rum
Cran-Pear Bellini
1cup pear nectar
1 cup cranberry juice cocktail
1 bottle dry sparkling white wine
In a small pitcher combine pear nectar and cranberry juice cocktail.
Pour 1/4 cup juice mixture into each of eight champagne glasses.
Dividing evenly, top with sparkling white wine.
Angels Delight
1 oz cream
3/4 oz triple sec
1 oz gin
2-3 dashes grenadine
Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice and Shake well.
Strain into a chilled Martini glass.
Mexican Hot Chocolate
This one is a little more complicated, but worth it.
6 tbsp Unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tbsp Sugar
1 pinch Cayenne pepper (or to taste)
2 pinches Ground allspice
.25 tsp Ground cinnamon
3 oz Water
16 oz Whole milk
6 oz Tequila
In a small saucepan, stir together the cocoa powder, sugar, cayenne, allspice, cinnamon and water until they form a paste. Add the milk and cook, whisking constantly, over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Remove from the heat, stir in the tequila and serve.
From last year, but a favorite here at MySideOfTheBar
Brandy Flip
A great nightcap or dessert drink for those (like me) that love eggnog.
1 Part Brandy
1 Part Cream
1 Egg
1 Pkg artificial sweetener
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake
Serve in a shot glass
Cheers
